They will get fair pay yes. Do I think they will be locked up long term no. 3 years max. 6, 5.5 , 5.5. Give them bonuses as well. If I see MG do another contract over 5 years after this LU B@ll$hit I will become one you guys calling for his head. |

I think VANTEL already wrote this blog a month ago. It was a pretty graph, but you started at their peak, you needed to go back a few more years because it looks like a very steep drop off, when in fact it could be more of a plateau...
I don't believe that Kypreos has his finger on the pulse of contract negotiations between Canucks players and the club. He is suggesting the number is $7.5 on a short deal, and by short he is suggesting 4 years, which to me is a "long" deal. If I were Gillis, I may do $7.5 on a 2 year deal and then re-evaluate in two years. A four year deal is $24m, the Sedin's aren't more valuable than Taylor Hall IMO. |

No bonus until they are 35+, so it would have to be a 2 year deal, and then sign them to contract plus bonus. |

I though that they could institute the bonuses in contracts so they come into effect at 35? No? |

I'm not 100% on that, but I think that to be classified as a 35+ contract it has to be signed 35+. For instance, if Sedins sign a 6 year deal at $6m, $6m, $6m, $3m, $3m $3m then the cap hit is $4.5 and if they only play 3 years there is no recapture and no cap hit once they retire. No recapture because the length is shorter than the re-capture rule and no cap hit because they were not 35+ when they signed it (even though they would be 36 when they retired). But, if they sign a two year deal, and then sign another deal at 35+ with bonuses and retire before completing the contract, the cap hit counts. |

Gillis may do something stupid. History tells us its more than likely but I prefer to be an optimist with Gillis and hope he learns from his mistakes. (unlike over half of the other GM's in the league) Big term and big money contracts have just been stupid league wide even with the new cap and rules GM's are being idiots. The dollars don't make sense. |

Hey, I was thinking about your comment from the end of the last blog about 4th liners, and I think the problem is that the Canucks have a penchants for taking other teams "good" 4th liners and turning them into average 3rd liners. The same can be said for players who would be excellent in a 3rd line role playing on the 2nd and so on. Imagine if the 4th line was Higgins/Richardson/Hansen? Pretty f'ing good right? Your 3rd line is Booth/Santorelli/not sure, 2nd line is Shinkaruk/Kesler/Burrows and the top line is Sedins/Kassian.
But, inevitably, Higgins and/or Hansen will be playing up in the top 6 and we'll have Sestito and Weise playing on the 4th line with Richardson, the Kings part time 4th liner playing as the 3rd line C. |

Todd - your graph is tremendously skewed, in that it only takes their max years into consideration. Why not go back eight years to when the twins found their NHL game. They've always been around PPG players, with the exception being a couple of max point years, which all star players have.
Hank
2005-06 Vancouver Canucks NHL 82 18 57 75
2006-07 Vancouver Canucks NHL 82 10 71 81
2007-08 Vancouver Canucks NHL 82 15 61 76
2008-09 Vancouver Canucks NHL 82 22 60 82
2009-10 Vancouver Canucks NHL 82 29 83 112
2010-11 Vancouver Canucks NHL 82 19 75 94
2011-12 Vancouver Canucks NHL 82 14 67 81
2012-13 Vancouver Canucks NHL 48 11 34 45
Total of 646 points over 622 games. Henrik is right where he was 6-7-8 years ago, a PPG player. This notion that they're in decline is completely based on their career years. Even Mario Lemieux couldn't repeat 199 point years every year! So - his career must have been in "decline" from the age of 24 on? |

Shinkaruk will make this team.
Booth Kesler Shinkaruk will be the 2nd line (until booth gets injured).
Kassian needs to be sent to the minors for a few months. |

First of all I don't know why they would get the same salary. Secondly I don't know why they get raises on declining production.
IMO Henrik should be 6.5,6.0 ,5.5.5.5
Daniel 5.5 5.5,5.0 optional 5.0 |

Yeah, that was pretty much the most unnecessary graph ever. You don't need a graph for 3 seasons. |
